But actually (without hate to the science based community), is it true or just bs?
I will try to answer this objectively.
But before that, we must know who is in the ‘mind muscle connection’ side and who doesn’t.
So, here is the list of the people who advocate mind muscle connection:
- Arnold
“I am constantly visualizing the muscles growing when I train.”
- Frank Zane
“Feeling the muscle work is more important than lifting heavy.”
- Tom Platz
“Your body won’t go where your mind hasn’t been.”
- Ronnie Coleman
“If you can’t feel it, you’re not training it.”
And basically all great bodybuilders.
And now, here is the list of someone who said that ‘mind muscle connection is overrated’:
- Eugene Tao
- Some not quiet famous science based lifters
(Even Jeff Nippard doesn’t said it’s overrated lol)
So, if we look at the guys that are between these two sides, we can conclude that mind muscle connection is not overrated – It’s essential.
But, okay. Let’s assume that these guys’ opinions don’t matter.
Will Mind Muscle Connection still mandatory or not?
To answer this,
I come up with a simple question.
If you do bicep curl, will you ‘feel’ your legs or your back muscle working?
Of course not!
Because in reality, they are not WORKING.
The same applies when you do squat, will you fell your biceps working?
OF COURSE NOT!.
This is what they don’t understand.
Mind muscle connection is not a gimmick.
It’s a sign that some muscle is not working as much.
So, for example, if you don’t feel back or lats during pull ups, you’re doing it wrong.
Maybe, you armed your pull up, you don’t retract your scapula, you don’t pull with your elbow, and so many things.
And this just convince me that the golden era basics are the ones that work.
And I would keep doing these golden era basics my whole life.
But, really I want to ask you…
