something addicting like; watching p***, dr**, or even playing video games, do you need 1% of your effort to do all those things? Or does it just go automatically without you stopping?
And something surprised me… because I’ve analysed basically almost all Arnold’s interviews and his tips about getting consistent… and I found out something surprising. Arnold is addicted to working out… And it’s not only Arnold.. Most people that consistently hit the gym are addicted to working out.
And today we’ll talk about how you can be addicted to working out. And after you finish reading this newsletter… You can directly apply these 4 tips to your routine.
But first… Let’s talk about the science behind addiction. Addiction happens when your brain rewards something you do and in the future your brain persuades you to do it again until it becomes your needs. So to make something addictive, your brain must reward something you do… and actually it is very applicable while working out with these 4 methods.
You know that addiction happens because your brain persuades you right?
But… your brain doesn’t act on itself… It’s actually controlled by a substance which is called dopamine.
Yeah.. dopamine is the substance that pretty much causes addiction…
And you know what something produces so much dopamine?… The answer is lifting weight.
Yeah.. Lifting weight alone produces a considerable amount of dopamine… But lifting heavy? Produces a lot.
So… Never lift lightweight. Lift Heavy especially in compound movement.
Fun fact: you rarely see people with sour face after lifting heavy… It’s because they release dopamine.
What is the feeling after you train to failure? For me it was amazing… My muscles are pumped, my stress is gone and everything is alright.
But something more happens… when you go to failure, you’re actually pushing your limits. And what happens after you push your limit? You release dopamine… a huge amount of it.
But training past failure is just another level… you really go beyond your limit, not only pushing to it, and it is very addicting… try it yourself.
But here’s the thing… sometimes you can’t go past failure on some exercises like squat, deadlift or even bench press..
But of course you can do it on isolation exercises like barbell curl or triceps pushdown. So on every isolation exercise.. Go past failure, at least on your last set.
“it’s as satisfying to me as coming is, you know, as having sex with a woman and coming. So can you believe how much I am in heaven.”

Chasing the pump is the most rewarding thing in the gym… after you go all out in every set, now you see the result.
And of course, rewarding thing = dopamine, and it’ll create an addiction.
And it applies to Arnold… one of the things that contributes to his consistency is the pump, how he enjoys the pump so much, he said it like it’s cum****.
So atleast, every workout you pose… that is the most addicting part after working out., and you’ll be addicted to it.
This is Arnold’s #1 hack to motivate himself. Just by seeing his idol’s picture, he feels motivated all the time. And actually, seeing your dream’s physique can be a motivation, and something motivated has a lot of dopamine… which makes it addictive.
